Active and inquiry-based learning

“The day afforded a much needed reflection and discussion on active learning and engaging students, so thank you again for not only sharing all your wonderful case studies and examples but also listening to our own ideas and challenges.”

Rhonda Lobb, Scholarship Development Manager, Myerscough College, UK

Workshops offered:

  • Engaging students through active learning

Our argument is that student learning can be enhanced, and learning made more enjoyable, if we break up lectures with well-designed activities; and sometimes replace lecture sessions with longer activities, such as inquiry-based learning, problem solving, discussions, debates, simulations, and other activities appropriate for your subject.

  • Designing inquiry-based learning activities

Participants will leave this workshop with practical ways in which they can incorporate inquiry learning in to their course regardless of discipline or class size.

  • Developing research-based curricula in college-based higher education

Much current debate concerns the form that research and scholarship should take in the HE in FE / College-Based HE sector.
